Travelers who are not in India for sightseeing purposes and are only there briefly for, say, business meetings and the like, may find it much better to stay in airport hotels (and, effectively, airport hotel rooms) while they are in the country. Airport hotels can be found all over India, in their major cities – there are quite a number of them, and all of them are within a convenient distance of an airport (often a major international or domestic airport).

The mark of airport hotels would be this: they are usually used for mere overnight stays, one-night affairs, and they are often picked because they are within easy access of an airport – a boon if one is often in a hurry. That being said, it is not at all surprising that standard airport hotel rooms are often sparsely decorated. Of course, it cannot be said that airport hotel rooms, especially in India, are “shabby” – because they often cater to businessmen and the like, the accommodations are usually very comfortable and “executive level”. They would have internet access, bathrooms with ample space and luxury, beds that encourage optimum rest, and comforts like airconditioning and television access. Airport hotel rooms in India are international class, because they need to be.
